Living in Desert Mountain
Desert Mountain homes sit in a gated private-club community in north Scottsdale’s 85262 zip. Originally master-planned by Taliesin Associated Architects, the Frank Lloyd Wright-founded firm, the roughly 8,300-acre community sits at about 3,000 feet elevation and borders the Tonto National Forest. Golf is the defining feature, with seven courses, and the club runs 10 restaurants and grills. Six of the courses are Jack Nicklaus Signature designs, Renegade, Cochise, Geronimo, Apache, Chiricahua and Outlaw, the world’s largest private collection of them. The seventh, No. 7 (Seven), is an 18-hole, par-54 executive course designed by members Bill Brownlee and Wendell Pickett.
The community has just over 1,900 homes, from about 1,800 square feet to more than 20,000. That range is wider than most people expect, and it means Desert Mountain can suit very different budgets and plans.

Club membership is a separate decision
Buying a home in Desert Mountain doesn’t automatically make you a club member. Membership is separate, and it requires approval from the club. For many buyers, that’s the most important thing to understand before making an offer.
We talk through what you want from the club, if anything, before we tour. That keeps your search focused and your budget realistic.
How I represent Desert Mountain buyers and sellers
I’m Valerie Moe, with Keller Williams Realty Sonoran Living. With twenty years in luxury real estate, including sales up to $20 million, I know that in a community this varied, the right comparable sales are the whole story. A villa and a custom estate on the same course are different markets.
Based on my recent market review, Desert Mountain homes run from about $1.3 million to more than $18 million, and that shifts over time. See luxury homes in Desert Mountain and selling a home in Desert Mountain.
